These animations show the time evolution of the transition probability and flavor coherence in the two models displayed in Fig.2. They illustrate the development of significant flavor conversion in the flat matter profile case and its suppression in the steep gradient case.

Model: \( (\lambda_0/\mu_0, m) = (1, 0) \) with \( \xi = 10^{-4} \)

Left: Transition probability Right: Flavor coherence
Horizontal:: Radius, Vertical: Angular direction
Strong attenuation & Flat matter profile --> Occurrence

Model: \( (\lambda_0/\mu_0, m) = (1, -3) \) with \( \xi = 10^{-4} \)

Left: Transition probability Right: Flavor coherence
Horizontal:: Radius, Vertical: Angular direction
Strong attenuation & Steep matter profile --> Suppression

Model: \( (\lambda_0/\mu_0, m) = (20, -3) \) with \( \xi = 10^{-2} \)

Left: Transition probability Right: Flavor coherence
Horizontal:: Radius, Vertical: Angular direction
Weak attenuation & Steep matter profile --> Occurrence
